The right ball for every product

The KPM range includes more than 3,500 items – for the most diverse requirements of our 2500 international clients. We offer valve balls, ball bearings, test and reference balls, locking balls, grinding balls, balls as weight, mixing balls, and balls as overload protection and as filler material, float balls and much more.

We supply well-known and even small customers worldwide in virtually every industry, including, the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, medical technology, food processing, chemical industry, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, aerospace, household goods and energy.

You will see some applications and the balls normally produced for them below.

Combustion engines, Railway vehicle manufacturing, Aircraft construction, ABS, ESP, Automatic gearboxes, Safety belt systems, Steering systems, Hydraulic valves, Spray pumps for cosmetics and medicines, Level indicators, Switches, Roller bearings, linear guides, telescopic slides

Combustion engines

The heart of any car: The engine. If it is to work as long as possible and properly, every individual fitted part is of huge importance. And likewise the differently sized chrome steel balls located therein. Here it comes down to quality.

Material: Chrome steel
Ø: 1-5 mm
Güte: G3-G28

Railway vehicle manufacturing

It is all about precision not just on the road, but also on the tracks in the relevant means of transport. Compared to the automotive sector, balls made of chrome steel are used in railway vehicles with appropriately larger diameter to make sure everything “rolls” and travellers safely reach their destination.

Material: Chrome steel
Ø: 8-15 mm
Güte: G16-G28

Aircraft construction

You would imagine it would be a little bigger in aircraft construction, but far from it: In contrast to railway vehicles, the balls made of ceramic and chrome steel fitted in planes and with diameters between 1 mm and 7 mm are comparatively small. All the more reason why the quality has to be right here.

Material: Chrome steel ceramics
Ø: 1-7 mm
Güte: G3-G10

ABS, ESP

Whether in the car, on the train or plane – another important area of use for the balls we make is in antilock braking systems (ABS), which stops the wheels locking when braking. The goal: better tractability and grip in precarious situations. Even the corresponding development – the so-called ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) – can not do without the use of balls. Electronically controlled, it will help prevent the car skidding by targeted braking of individual wheels.

Material: Chrome steel corrosion-resistant steels
Ø: 1-6 mm
Güte: G3-G10

Automatic gearboxes

Material: PA
Ø: 5-10 mm

Safety belt systems

Actually quite simple: Wherever something has to roll, balls are fitted. Just like in safety belt systems for fastening in vehicles – they work exclusively through a mechanism that would not be possible without balls and ball bearings.

Material: Aluminium corrosion-resistant steels
Ø: 10-15 mm
Güte: G100-G300

Steering systems

Effortlessly steering a vehicle is now part of the luxury in every car. Is anyone surprised then that there are also balls fitted here. In the steering, they ensure not only that the vehicle moves but also to set its direction.

Material: Chrome steel
Ø: 1-5 mm
Güte: G3-G10

Hydraulic valves

Not only fire-fighters are familiar with them: Hydraulic valves. For these not to fail in use, the balls supplied by us and fitted there of at least up to 50 mm diameters, must perform their work accurately and without restriction.

Material: Chrome steel
Ø: 5-50 mm
Güte: G28-G100

Spray pumps for cosmetics and medicines

Whether it is a medically necessary instrument or a cosmetic used voluntarily – neither of them would work without the use of balls. So our balls guarantee both health (such as in spray pumps for asthmatics) and beauty (such as in spray pumps for creams, perfumes and other cosmetics).

Material: Chrome steel ceramics
Ø: 1-4 mm

Level indicators

Most people see the first coffee in the morning as a good start to the day. To prevent the “black gold” turning into “dishwater”, we use level indicators that allow us to dose the powder and water precisely. Such systems – by the way not just for coffee but for everything that is filled with liquid – also need balls.

Material: Chrome steel corrosion-resistant steels
Ø: 3-7 mm

Switches

“Let there be light” – so that it works when it threatens to become dark outdoors again, we need switches. A simple hand movement switches the electric circuit on and off again also. Anything that works through electronic impulses is controlled using a switch and this in turn is controlled using balls.

Material: PA
Ø: 1-6 mm

Roller bearings, linear guides, telescopic slides

Material: Aluminium corrosion-resistant steels
Ø: 1-320 mm
Güte: G10-G28
